Kevin began his musical journey at a young age. While listening to his older sister playing piano, he knew that was what he wanted to do. He soon began taking piano lessons. While in high school he got his first guitar and began playing that as well.
After graduating from the University of Florida, Kevin had the wonderful opportunity to live and work in Japan. In the three years he spent there he played out every chance he had, joined a couple of bands and had the time of his life. He also took three years of Shakuhachi, Japanese bamboo flute, lessons. It was such a joy to share his music with people of a multitude of cultures and nations. It was then he decided to make a career of music.
Upon returning to the states, Kevin took six years of classical guitar lessons with Raymond Lohengrin. He began teaching at that time as Raymond's assistant and on his own.
In 2008 he started teaching at Great Southern Music. He taught there until the store was sold to Music & Arts in 2018. He taught at the new location until 2020 when the store closed. He still teaches for Music & Arts as an online instructor.
